Moving to Calgary
To increase your interest I will start with Canadian cities attractiveness rating, published by respected Canadian organization Conference Board of Canada. Cities are divided into several categories. The highest category A includes six cities: Calgary, Ottawa, Waterloo, Vancouver, St.John's and Richmond Hill (suburb of Toronto).
Calgary is a rising star of Canadian cities. Alberta is similar to American Texas and the city of Calgary can be called Canadian Houston. Here, you can find real cowboys (Alberta is known for its beef, and the city of Calgary is called a city of cows) and oil companies, which have beautified the city skyline with modern corporate skyscrapers. It is very comfortable place for living.
The city is growing by leaps and bounds. Oil industry is also developing rapidly. Number of new buildings under construction is staggering. New hospitals, sports facilities, new skyscrapers, condos, new Skytrain Station are constructed with new areas development. All the buildings are constructed in accordance with the latest technology. Due to the large influx of money and construction activities in recent years, the city has been updated significantly. There are many areas with huts, but there is a large number of very decent new housing. Find more info how to find a real estate in Calgary.
Calgary is not that green as Montreal or Vancouver. But there are old districts with carefully planted trees that create a pleasant atmosphere. If you go in the direction of Saskatoon, then you can go mad from smoothness and uniformity of the landscape. But it is quite another matter if to go to the West. There you can meet surpassing beauty of the Pacific coast of British Columbia. You will see Rocky mountains with numerous ski slopes and boreal trails, where you can easily meet a grizzly bear, astounding lakes with emerald waters and radon hot springs. And all that stuff in two steps away from Calgary.
So Calgary is suitable place for nature, outdoor activities, hiking and mountain skiing lovers. For those, who want to earn more and lose less on taxes. For those, who appreciate the friendliness more than finesse. For those, who like a lot of sunny days and are not afraid of long winters. For those who, are not afraid to live in the middle of nowhere, far from the centers of civilization.
